Revelation 3:8
“I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”
this is my life verse. i don’t remember how i came to this verse. but i know for one fact that this verse is the one that i always draw strength from. even if i cannot memorise any portion of the Bible, i will never forget this verse. it is so meaningful.
“I know thy works:..”
whatsoever small thing i do, even saying thanks, picking up small litter, all doing just small acts of kindness, there is one thing that i know, even when everyone thinks it is worthless to do such deeds. the Lord Jesus Christ comforts me, that even though i may be the background crew, that guy who puts others before himself, not a yes-man, but a servant of God. that Christ knows what i do, and someday in heaven, He will reward me for it. actions speak volumes, that it also gives me the constant reminder, that even the bad and wicked things i do, God knows, and that i must not sin, for the wages of sin is death. if i sin, it would be uncalled for as a servant of the thrice Holy God.
“..behold, I have set before thee an open door,..”
yet again, is another comforting sentence! it starts with Behold! what an impressive sight! that the word used is so strong! that even though i am a sinner, filthy, just made out of dust. that Christ has died for me on that cruel cross of calvary. that the love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell. it goes beyond the farthest star and reaches to the lowest hell, the scroll could not contain the whole, though stretched from sky to sky! how marvelous! eternity can never repay, the debt to Him i owe. yet He gave us the choice to serve Him and opened the door to heaven, that we might be cleansed by the blood of the Lamb. the door is ever open and ready for you. accept Christ into your heart today!
“..and no man can shut it:..”
the Comforter really comforts me so well! that He said that the way to heaven is always open, and not only that. no man can shut it, not only no man, but no demon, beast, or any other creature can shut it. God will never allow anyone to shut the door to eternal life. for He wants all to come to the salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ. in my daily walk with God as a Christian, i face many difficulties like everyone out there. but this one thing keeps me going, never to falter, nor despair. that i know that my Lord always has a door open for me, that wherever He leads me, i know it will be the best way to go. even when He shuts one door, He will definitely open another! how gracious is the Lord Almighty! no man can stop His eternal plan and Will for my life. what a comforting note!
“..for thou hast a little strength,..”
He knows how weak i am, even when i pretend to be strong. for i can never hide anything from God Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Omniscient! He understands all my trials and tribulations. For He will make my yoke easy, and my burden light, for there hath no temptation taken you which is common to men, but God will grant me the strength, that i may overcome every temptation, every sorrow, every tribulation. He will mould me, and refine me, that i may become a masterpiece, far greater than gold! how comforting again! that God knows how i feel. He has borne all our sorrows and doth know what we go through. casting your cares upon Him, cause He careth for us!
“..and hast kept my word,..”
this phrase really motivates me to keep His commandments. that i may glorify Him in all that i do! let us therefore, learn to keep His Word, hiding it in our hearts, that it may teach us how we may live our lives as Christians. let His Word be a lamp unto our feet! and a light unto our path! amazing grace! that Christ may be pleased with our actions, words and deeds as His servant. His Word is ever so amazing, so rich and free! that it will stand forever! it is something that will be in heaven for eternity. amazing! how have we kept His Word? have we been attacked by the evil one, and yielding to temptation, that sometimes i oftentimes fail in. that is why memorising scripture is important! it allows you to remember what Christ said. for even that day, where i shall see His glorious appearing! when Christ asks me about my life, what am i to answer? that i may be able to enter into the gates of heaven, when that glorious morn comes, what joy unspeakable!
“..and hast not denied my name.”
i remember once that i almost denied His name. we should not be like peter, who denied Christ thrice before the cock crew. even if i am sentenced to death, will i not deny the name of Christ. this may be such an easy thing to say. but what if you were faced with such a situation? for me. i will always put this verse and remember it in my mind and remembering that i am a Christian. how can a Christian deny Christ when Christ is already in that vocation? never deny that you are a Christian. you are a servant of the most High God. why should you even deny your name for? remember that one day you will be in the clouds of heaven reigning together with Him. YES! that glorious morn!
even after sharing what my life verse means, which reflects on my entire self as a Christian, i know this thing for sure. that Christ knows everything i do, and that His windows of heaven are forever open! i can never close it, because i am nothing, and that i have kept His Word and commandments and hast not denied His name. that in that glorious morn! Christ might say to me, this ungrateful servant, that Welcome Back, My Good and Faithful Servant! YES! that it will be worth it all, when i see Christ!
